Today an increasing number of airlines are loading market specific fares in the GDSs through CAT 35 ATPCO to be issued only by travel agencies in particular countries. Especially favored by the new trend are the big consolidators in the USA, Canada and other countries. In result, three basic types of tariffs are differentiated on the market – published fares that can be issued by any IATA travel agency, CAT 35 ATPCO loaded net and web airfares that can be issued only through a specific agency SID (PCC), and consolidator fares not available through the GDSs but still provided by the big consolidators on paper.
Driven by the travel industry shift towards a no-commission market environment, TravelStoreMaker (TravelStoreMaker) optimized its Internet Booking Engine (IBE) that now distinguishes GDS published fares from CAT 35 ATPCO loaded net and web airfares. This allows travel agencies to automatically set their own markups and discounts on all fares available through the online reservation system.
With the new release of the IBE in the beginning of May, 2004, all TravelStoreMaker customer travel agencies will be able to add fare-type specific (published, consolidator, CAT 35 ATPCO) markup or discount on the fares displayed through the agency’s website. The markup/discount can be a percent of the base price or a flat amount, and it can differ by: carrier, booking class, travel period allowed and booking period allowed. In addition, this markup/discount can be managed 24/7 through a new web based tool.
The TravelStoreMaker Internet Booking Engine operates with Worldspan published fares, travel agency privately loaded consolidator fares, and CAT 35 ATPCO loaded net and web airfares.
